Jing Quitain

Jing, as called by her friends is from the Philippines, and the youngest of four sisters.  She finished her Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, with high honors, and recently completed her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance under a full scholarship at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. 

Jing became involved in a church’s children’s choir at the age of 3 and from then on her interest in music was developed and nurtured.  She began her formal piano lessons at the age of 6 and continued until she reached college.  She was also an enthusiastic member of her High School and College choir and later on became the music director in her town’s parish, being the pianist and choral director.

But her job as a music director did not keep her away from her real dream, which is to perform.  She has won a couple of competitions while she was a student and became a featured artist several times performing with different orchestras in the Philippines.  She has also traveled to perform not only in the Philippines but also in some countries including Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong, Canada and Singapore to perform in an opera.

At present, Jing is teaching Voice and Piano at Winthrop University Academy of Music and in Clover High School.
